Smoking as risk factor of chronic diseases

Abstract
A literature review was carried out on the effect of smoking as risk factor for many chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease, with the objective of deepening on the harmful effects of this drug abuse, so doctors, nurses and other health professionals be updated on the subject. Currently, smoking is the major risk factor for these diseases and professionals must be prepared to provide preventive measures and health promotion in the different age groups and thus reduce morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease. The magnitu de of the problem, diseases caused by it, risk factors, prevention and recommendations for reducing this toxic habit are treated.
