Health decision making in women's that attends to well baby care

Abstract
A descriptive and cross-sectional study was made, whose objective was to identify areas of decision making in women that took to a child to baby well care on primary clinic of Santiago, Chile (N: 1.640). This study pretended to collect data to design strategies to support the decision making. Two instruments to 308 women were applied: Pictograma de Lange, Jaimovich, Fields and O'Connor (1999) and Valuation of necessities of decisional support of the population of O'Connor, A. & Jacobsen, M.J. (1998). The age average of the women was 30.1+7.6 years, 54.5% were married, the schooling average was 10.5+2.8 years and a 78.6% were owners of their house. 91.5% were mothers of the child who took to control. 62% were taking decisions with respect to their health or someone from their family, of them 43% presented decisional conflict. Some decisions considered important were centered in the child that took to control (37%), 33.9% in herself and 29.1 % in the rest of their family. They emphasized decisions related to the form to acceed and to use the health system. The knowledge of this by the nurse Will allow hem to design support strategies and to develop of abilities to revert this situation.
