Creative Collaborations in Print: Jerome Rothenberg and the Alternative Press

Abstract

The following is a lightly edited and expanded version of a talk I gave in the spring of 2025 at the University of Glasgow, where I was fortunate enough to join with a collective of other poets-scholars-translators in celebrating the work of Jerome Rothenberg. The research presented here is an extension of research I undertook for my book Dispatches from the Avant-Garage: The Alternative Press (Wayne State University Press, 2026). This essay offers additional insights into Rothenberg’ s specific collaboration with the Detroit-based publisher.
