Abstract

This article defines the concept of archiexemplum as an extrapolation of two phraseological instruments: archimetaphor (Iñesta & Pamies, 2002) and archimetonymy (Díaz Rodríguez, 2017) to some suprasyntagmatic phraseological units. To be precise, archiexemplum would be the abstraction of a matrix used to create proverbial statements. Hence, every single proverb in a language would be a particular materialization of one of these exempla.
