Due to the growing demand for construction products to satisfy the housing needs of society, the implementation of eco-friendly materials is almost a requirement nowadays. Despite this, the sandwich-type construction system, an important element in buildings, contains sheets of expanded polystyrene, a material considered to be harmful to the environment. In this regard, this research proposes the replacement of polystyrene with a Tetra Brik sheet, in an attempt to reduce the environmental impact of the system. Then, both systems were evaluated and compared in terms of thermal and mechanical resistance, as well as their acoustic properties and adequate adhesion to concrete. The results showed an adequate behavior of the system built with tetra Brik, placing it as a more sustainable alternative, with a similar performance to polystyrene in the sandwich-type construction system.
