Introduciendo la estética sensorial de los materiales en la enseñanza del diseño textil

Resumen

En la enseñanza del diseño textil, las expre­siones materiales tienden a orientarse hacia los dominios sensoriales visuales y táctiles. Sin embargo, los materiales son percibidos por todos los sentidos, ya que la experiencia corporal está mediada por múltiples modali­dades sensoriales. Este artículo presenta un workshop de aprendizaje experiencial di­señado para introducir a los estudiantes de diseño textil en la somaestética como una forma de aumentar las competencias sen­soriales y enriquecer la exploración de las expresiones sensoriales de los materiales en el diseño textil. Los métodos de enseñan­za incluyeron un ejercicio de sensibilización, un collage sensorial reflexivo, una tarea cuyo propósito era elaborar un mapa sensorial colaborativo y un proyecto final de diseño. Ofrecemos una discusión evaluativa basada en la retroalimentación del workshop por par­te de los estudiantes y las reflexiones de las investigadoras. Los principales aportes del trabajo consisten en directrices que servirán como fuente de inspiración para introducir la estética sensorial de los materiales en la enseñanza del diseño textil.

Licenciada en Medios Integrados, Ontario College of Art & Design University. Candidata a doctora en Diseño de Interacción Textil, Universidad de Borås. Como investigadora está interesada en el diseño de interacción, el diseño textil, el diseño de interacción con textiles, la estética en la interacción, las artes electrónicas, la teoría crítica de los medios digitales, la teoría postdigital, la teoría del diseño, la teoría del diseño textil y el pensamiento de diseño textil. Entre sus últimas publicaciones se incluyen “Between Yarns and Electrons: A Method for Designing Textural Expressions in Electromagnetic Smart Textiles” (Nordic Design Research Conference 2021) y “Abstract Everywhere: The Dressed Body in Electromag­netic Space” (Unlikely: The Journal for Creative Arts, n° 6). Es profesora titular de la Escuela Sueca de Textiles de la Universidad de Borås y miembro del Comité de Estudios de Máster del Departamento de Diseño de Moda de la Academia de Arte de Vilna.
