Abstract
This article undertakes the rescue of one of the most representative Instruments of the Chilean musical tradition: el guitarrón (the large guitar). This instrument, unique in America and the world, has accompanied the popular poets through many generations. The author revises the national history providing also a panoramic view of the popular poetry development. All this with the purpose of revaluing the traditions and promoting the knowledge of Popular Art.
