Abstract

The following article intends to reflect on the place the Sacred has in the present cultural configuration of Chile by the end of the twentieth century, on the basis of considering the Modernity and Postmodernity phenomena. The situation poses new challenges to the Christian faith inculturation, keeping in mind that as an essential element the Sacred can guide the quest of an explanation of reality. Moreover, it analyses the Chilean and the Latin American popular religiosity as a salvifical reservoir with regards to the modern cultural pressures.
