Rodolfo Walsh: The Hydra of Press Freedom

Abstract




Forty years ago the Argentine military regime assassinated Rodolfo Walsh. They tried to silence him with shots, but his death made an army ready to offer their lives from the difficult job of informing. Walsh personifies the Hydra of freedom of the press because, precisely, 60 years ago he published his journalistic investigation titled Operación Masacre (1957), with which he sowed the bases so that hundreds of heads that use the journalism like trench to denounce the crimes of State. His literary work, his journalistic value and his memory within the genres of nonfiction are indicated in this article because his legacy will never lose its validity.
