The latin american ophelias: mystifications of suicide in Alfonsina Storni and Antonieta Rivas Mercado
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article aims to demystify the figurations of Antonieta Rivas Mercado (1931) and Alfonsina Storni (1938) in cultural receptions tinged with the ophelic myth of suicide, within the context of a decade marked by this fact (Viñas, 2007). In the first case, Diario de Burdeos (1930-1931) is compared with the representation made by Carlos Saura in his film Antonieta (1982). On the other hand, one of Storni’s last compositions, Mundo de siete pozos (1934), confront each other with the zamba composed by Ariel Ramírez and Félix Luna, “Alfonsina y el mar”.
