Abstract

This article presents the transcription and translation, from latin to spanish language, of the textual sections contained in the cartographic document entitled Missio chiloensis geographice descripta, unpublished until now. This material, dated in 1762, is a valuable record of the Society of Jesus’ work in Chiloé, in particular, of the circular missions. It doesn’t only show the route of the mission; it also presents a description about the way the evangelization process was executed, and other informations about the life in the island or relevant for the missional work, including even an explanation of the tides.
