Abstract

This article analyses the first stage of the poetic work of Winétt de Rokha in order to identify its transition from modernism to the avant-garde and the formal elements the poet uses in the search and development of a poetic voice of her own. For this purpose, the article considers a selection of representative fragments of her first three books: Lo que me dijo el silencio (1915), Horas de sol (1915), both signed by Juana Inés de la Cruz, and Formas del sueño (1927), signed by her pseudonym, Winétt de Rokha. This last book is a turning point in the themes and tones that her writing acquires in her following books.
