At around the same time, Armando Donoso and Francisco Contreras published books in Spain that introduced Spanish readers to the recent trends in Chilean literature and critical theory which were to set the stage for a new literary movement in Spanish American literature. Although they made only brief, sporadic visits to Madrid, the Spanish publications of these two Chilean writers were of great significance, among Other reasons because they provided information on the beginnings of an original and authentic literature which Francisco Contreras was later to name Mundonovismo. María Monvel, in the company Q/her husband Armando Donoso, was one of the first women writers from Chile to visit Spain and to play an important role in the rise of women 's poetry in Chile.
