The building of identity the reception of Jorge Teillier's work

Abstract

Jorge Teillier wrote a series of essays for literary journals and magazines. These essays provided the basis for the reception that critics and Other writers gave to his creative work and his public and private persona. In the process of writing them, Teillier created an image of himself which correlated his poetic production and his personal life. The purpose of this paper is to analyze this critical reception by taking into account the political, economical and literary expectations of both critics and creative writers in the historical context ofChilean society from the 1960 's to the present.
