Abstract

This study aims at describing the syntax of discourse markers in the talk of upper-class men and women in Valdivia. The analysis provides evidence to account for: (a) the discourse pontentialities of these markers, as we/1 as their contribution to talk organization and coherence; (b) sociolinguistic variations given by the age and sex variables.
