Abstract

(In this study we present and comment a text on the rhetorical concept of argutezza. The passage corresponds to the first chapter of Il Cannocchiale Aristotelico, a major work of the Italian writer Emanuele Tesauro and an outstanding treatise of XVIIth Century Rhetoric. In this chapter, the Italian author approaches the problem of the etymology of argutezza and he describes its different types: the Oratoria, the Lapidaria and the Simbolica.)
