Abstract

This work attempts to reconstruct tentatively the emotional spirit of the comedy, by analyzing Aristophane’ comedy Clouds. The interpretation considers internal and external elements in the light of the concept of sense of humour and also of ancient comedy. Taking Aristotle’s Poetics, a parallel is established with the tragedy, which suggests that, although antagonistic, these genres are anthropologically complementary, as they portray a common view of man of the so-called tragic epoch.
