Abstract

One of the most productive procedures of lexical creation in Spanish is lexicalization. Complex lexemes or sintagmatic compounds are clear examples of how the linguistic repertoire of the speakers of a given community increases. This work presents a general description of this type of lexical creation from a formal, functional and semantic perspective, as seen in a Chilean journalistic corpus.
