Abstract

In his book Gamma of Metaphysics, Aristotle proposes two of his fundamental doctrines: the science of the being qua being and the non-contradiction principle. This works argues that research about the use of the verb to be in ancient Greek conducted by Charles Kahn, partly resolves the difficulties found in the interpretation of the various Aristotelian formulations of the non-contradiction principle.
