This article studies the political trajectories of members of the elite. In particular, it analyzes 2 types of political trajectories of leftist politicians who hold some of the highest positions of authority in political parties, the government and as political representatives in Congress. The article develops an innovative theoretical and methodological strategy that combines descriptive analysis of quantitative data about the political elite with interpretative analysis of meanings in an exploratory study of politicians’ narratives about their own political trajectories.
