Abstract

The article presents a bright and detailed ethnographic description of the difference Vays how to present Aymara Indians focuse death in the Highlands of Iquique (Pampa de Lirima, Cultane). Each step of the mortuary ritual is followed in detail. The author brings together some (' basic comparative ideas concerning death, as they emerge from his description and analysis.
