Methodological criteria for the definition of urban centers in Chile

This paper develops a method to define urban centers in Chile. The methodology uses variables such as population density, labour force and population size. The study compares urban censal data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), with results obtained through the application of a multidimensional method. This comparison reveals significative differences in relation to the number ofurban centers and the size of chilean urban population.
