Spatial interaction: the basis of salmonid export activity salmonid export activity in the X Region of Los Lagos.

Abstract

The study deals with one of the most important problems that the salmon exporting subsector has to deal with, namely the spatial interaction of its production and marketing system. The spatial unit selected corresponds to the X Region of Los Lagos, since it was the one that presents the best starting advantages for investment, and therefore for the productive development of this activity. The information analyzed allows, by means of methodological procedures preferably of common use in graphic theory, to reach certain precisions regarding the spatial effects of salmon farming in the Los Lagos Region. The most significant conclusions show a highly dependent activity in terms of transportation, with marked regional effects in terms of infrastructure and specific Pujos in the nodes and networks of the region. especially in the region's nodes and networks and, finally, a distance friction that has been relativized, depending, if applicable, on the commercialization or production stages.
