Problemas ambientales en la economía pesquera: consecuencias de la “Revolución Azul” y la pesca de altamar en Chile

Abstract

The present paper is the outcome of a study of the participation of Chile in the “blue revolution”, the fast increase of the production of fish and shellfish based on new tecnology. Some regions in Chile offer excelent conditions for aquiculture of salmon and shellfish. The increase of fishmeal production is favouring the transformation of protein. But there are not only positive efects; environmental problems which are mainly depending on air and water pollution are pointed out.
