Abstract

In order to identify and delimit the Ratzel’s thought in the Chilean Geography, the contribution explores in various dimensions of Chilean intellectual activities. For the case are included different notions coming from geographer and civil engineers, those of history and geography pedagogues, those of the lawyers, and those of the university professors in Geography. In each case are detected fingerprints of the Ratzel’s thought on political geography, singly their ideas on naturael determinism and on social determinism or posibilism, whitout excluding caused that it made to evolve geography from the field of social science, coming from natural sciences, interested and to be occupied on the study of the spatial relationship between human beigns and the nature in the planet surface
