No. 1 (1974)

This first issue establishes the objectives and initial bases of Norte Grande. This will be the title of the journal for the first seven issues. Initially, it was proposed to study from an interdisciplinary point of view the conditions of habitability of the Pampa del Tamarugal, trying to understand the historical and physical processes detectable in the landscape since the arrival of the colonizers or even before. In addition, to understand the role of this Pampa and its settlements in the complex network of interactions between the villages of the mountain range, the Intermediate Depression and the coastal strip, and to contribute to the efforts to turn the Province of Tarapacá into a dynamic geographic region, capable of configuring its own model of regional development.
