The valorization of a peripheral space: The case of the eastern coast of Isla Grande de Chiloé.

The traditionally peripheral Chiloé space has been transforming into a dynamic territory, marked by the fact that the historical and cultural characteristics of the island constitute a true geographical resonance or spatial imprint that resists and perhaps conditions the transformations resulting from the incorporation of Chiloé into the Chilean and world economic space. The development of emerging economic activities has allowed a differentiated valorization of certain subspaces, which translates into a certain territorial imbalance. Will the Chiloé space be able to overcome the extraverted economic scheme that seems to characterize it and transform itself into something more than an enclave?
